Sharon Van Etten, who announced earlier this week that she would be performing her first gig in over a year, is scheduled to take the stage next Wednesday (July 17th) at London’s 100 Club on Oxford Street. Doors are set to open at 7:30 p.m. BST, with support from the band The Attachment Theory. The show will have a maximum capacity of 350 viewers, and tickets will be sold via a lottery process, with each participant eligible for up to two tickets, and will be notified on July 15th.
Van Etten expressed her excitement at returning to London and thanked her fans for signing up to her email list: “I’ve been in London for a bit with my band and I’ve always felt a connection to this city. I’m so glad to be back. We’re really looking forward to seeing you at the show on the 17th.” Van Etten is celebrating the 10th anniversary of her 2014 album “Are We There” and has not announced any new material.
Last December, Van Etten’s track ‘Quiet Eyes’ was shortlisted for Best Original Song at the Oscars 2024. Although it ultimately didn’t win, but Eilish and Finneas took home the award for “What Was I Made For?” from “Barbie.” Throughout the years, her music has received critical acclaim, and “NME” lauded her latest album, “We’ve Been Going About This All Wrong” as “a powerful reckoning with the age of uncertainty.”
Although Van Etten is an accomplished songwriter and a talented musician, she still has her fair share of nerves before the show. She recorded a brief video in which she said, “The band and I are in London, and we are playing a show on July 17th. But if you want more details, you have to sign up for my email list. Hopefully my zit will be gone by then. Ssh, don’t tell anyone!” A poster was included with the announcement of her gig in London at the 100 Club
