Travel arrangements for the upcoming Euro 2024 final between England and Spain are proving problematic for many fans. Although the official match tickets are already sold out on the UEFA website, some secondary agencies are still offering them for £1,300, or a VIP package for £67,000. However, such tickets bought through unauthorised third parties may be cancelled by UEFA at any time, leaving many fans vulnerable to not being admitted to the stadium. With flight prices to Berlin rising dramatically after England’s win in the semi-final, some fans are considering alternative routes to Germany, such as using the ferry from Harwich to Hoek van Holland, followed by a train journey to Berlin for £195. For those who prefer land travel, coaches are available from Stratford, east London to Alexanderplatz in Berlin for between £150 and £250.
Another option is to charter a private jet for four passengers, costing £11,220 if booked through PrivateFly. Although fans arriving in Berlin are sure to appreciate the city’s notorious bar scene, hotels are also in high demand and prices have risen significantly due to the upcoming match. For the night of the final, prices for a room in the Charottenburg-Wilmersdorf area stood at £252, compared to the regular price of £63 just a week later. Nevertheless, bars that remain open for 24 hours may offer an attractive alternative for a cheap night’s sleep.
For unclear reasons, some UK airlines including British Airways and Ryanair have already pledged to organise extra flights to Berlin to accommodate more supporters. Unfortunately, EasyJet has not communicated specific plans to such effect. Furthermore, the official UEFA fan zones at the Brandenburg Gate in the city centre will be running live broadcasts of the match on large screens, perfect for those who were unable to procure a match ticket
