The Courteeners have announced that they have “something big” in store for their fans tomorrow (July 9). The news was teased on the band’s Instagram through a post that reads “Tomorrow 6PM” alongside a picture of a number 17 bus going from Middleton and Manchester, before it’s labelled as “Out of service.” The text written on the image reads “Solitude of the Night Bus”. The band recently performed two new songs at the Lytham Festival, including “Solitude of the Night Bus.” Fans are speculating that this might be the title of their upcoming album.
Liam Fray, the band’s frontman, has expressed his gratitude to the fans who attended their headline set through a new reel on Instagram. In the same video, he also teased fans about an upcoming announcement from the band. Fray revealed earlier this year during an interview with NME at Glastonbury that they were working on two new albums. One album is expected to be more fun, while the other album is moodier and will have a piano and drum machines. Fray admitted that he doesn’t expect any hits from the latter album, but the sleepers are going to be loved.
Fray also mentioned how insignificant he feels as part of the Glastonbury festival and is determined to transfer that feeling to the rest of his life. He added that they are expected to appear at Boardmasters and Victorious Festival later this year. Also, last April, Courteeners were honoured as Band of the Year at the first ever Northern Music Awards. Fans are eagerly waiting to hear more from the Manchester-based band.
