Rapper Rick Ross has been embroiled in a physical altercation in Vancouver, Canada. It is believed the incident occurred after Ross had performed at the Ignite Music Festival on 29 June 2024. Reports indicate that Ross walked off stage mid-performance while playing rapper Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss track “Not Like Us,” and began arguing with a member of the audience. The incident quickly escalated, with those around the two individuals becoming involved in a brawl. Footage of the incident quickly went viral, causing many to speculate that those involved were Drake supporters.
The brawl was reportedly serious enough for one of Ross’s entourage to be left unconscious. Ross himself took to Instagram to post a photo of him posing in front of a private jet, captioning the shot “Vancouver it was fun, till next time”. A representative for Ross later issued a statement claiming that no members of his team suffered any serious injuries during the altercation.
American rapper 50 Cent also commented on the incident. In a video posted to his Instagram page, he expressed the hope that Ross had made it home safely and that the situation would prompt him to reconsider his actions. 50 Cent went on to suggest that Ross might need to enlist the help of “the Dreamchasers” or “the 305 Killers,” a comment many interpreted as a nod to fellow rappers Meek Mill and Rick Ross’ Miami-based Maybach Music Group.
The altercation followed a feud between Ross and Drake, which began in April after Drake released his Kendrick Lamar diss track “Push Ups”. Ross responded with his own diss track, “Champagne Moments”, which focused heavily on Drake and claimed the rapper had undergone a nose job. Drake responded in his own track “Family Matters,” accusing Ross of being jealous and claiming doctor had not informed him of certain side effects of a drug he was taking.
In related news, singer Camila Cabello spoke out in defence of Drake, describing the ongoing criticism of the rapper as “frustrating
