At Open’er Festival in Gdynia, Poland, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl dedicated a performance of their song ‘Times Like These’ to Tom Morello, a guitarist who was present at the festival. Morello had performed earlier at the festival, and was seen standing side-stage during the Foo Fighters’ set. Grohl spotted him, and walked up to play the song up close and personal, much to the delight of Morello. The two embraced after the song was finished.
Morello later posted a clip of the moment on his Instagram, writing in the caption about the “wild time” he’d had at the festival, where he’d also played jointly with Italian rockers Maneskin. Morello and Grohl appeared to be having a blast onstage, with Morello throwing up the horns in appreciation.
In his interview with NME, Morello also talked about his solo ventures. Having participated in a variety of solo records over the years, he has moved toward creating something that is a “holistic presentation of rock and roll in its highest and bloodiest level,” he said. He added that while being in a band allows for a more collaborative experience, there is something special about having complete control over the creative direction of a project, which is what he prioritizes in his solo work.
Grohl, on the other hand, had recently wrapped up the final date of the Foo Fighters UK tour. He joined Black Sabbath’s Geezer Butler for a rendition of ‘Paranoid’ in Birmingham, and was also seen attending the Wimbledon tennis tournament.
