Caroline Polachek joined Charli XCX on stage at Roskilde Festival this weekend for a rare public performance of their joint song ‘Welcome To My Island’. The former Chairlift singer had teamed up with Charli and her partner George Daniel of The 1975 to remix the track last year, which was then included on Polachek’s second solo album ‘Desire, I Want To Turn Into You’. A few months later, Charli joined Polachek for the live premiere of the mix in Los Angeles. At the Danish festival, the duo also performed the Macarena.

In an interview with NME last year, Charli expressed her admiration for Polachek and said she was “honoured” to rework the track with Daniel. At Glastonbury, Charli took to the Levels stage for a performance called ‘Charli XCX Presents Partygirl’, where she brought out special guests Romy and Robyn for a performance of ‘With Every Heartbeat’ and a remix of ‘Dancing On My Own’. However, some fans expressed frustration that the set was not televised and pointed out that the venue’s capacity was limited to 7,000.

Charli also recently responded to Jarvis Cocker playing the Lorde-featuring remix of her track ‘Girl, So Confusing’ during his DJ set at the Stonebridge Bar at Glastonbury with a tweet saying she was “dead”. She had joined Troye Sivan to perform their 2018 hit collaboration ‘1999’ at Wembley Stadium last month. In a review of her latest album ‘Brat’, NME gave the release four stars and described it as a demonstration of Charli’s willingness to “going her own way” in the music industry.
