The Official Charts Company has announced the biggest singles and albums of 2024 so far in the UK. The biggest single of the year so far is ‘Stick Season’ by Noah Kahan, which has held the top spot on the Official Singles Chart for seven consecutive weeks. The song has shifted 1.37 million chart units in 2024, including 160 million combined audio and video streams. Originally released in 2022, the song has a lifetime total of 1.9 million chart units and 218 million streams in the UK.
Teddy Swims’ ‘Loose Control’ follows Kahan as the second biggest single of the year so far and has the achievement of being the most digitally downloaded single of 2024 so far, with 51,300 downloads. Sabrina Carpenter’s track ‘Espresso’ has garnered 763,000 combined chart units, including 85.7 million streams since its release in April. Other songs on the list include ‘Prada’ by Cassö, Raye, and D-Block Europe and ‘Cruel Summer’ by Taylor Swift.
Swift remains dominant in the album charts with her 11th studio album ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’ The album spent seven of its 10 chart weeks at number one and the remaining weeks at number two. It has accumulated over 542,200 chart units, including 251,000 physical sales, making it the most physically purchased LP of the year so far.
The Weeknd’s greatest hits album ‘The Highlights’ comes in at number two, while Kahan’s own album ‘Stick Season’ bags the number three spot. Olivia Rodrigo’s sophomore effort ‘Guts’ arrives at number four, and Billie Eilish’s latest release ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ takes the number five spot.
