Michael Bibi invites stem cell charity to homecoming gig

DJ Michael Bibi is hosting a stem cell transplant charity called Anthony Nolan during his One Life London gig at Finsbury Park on 6 July. The sold-out gig is touted as the biggest-ever electronic music show in the capital and is Bibi’s first London show since receiving cancer treatment last year. Anthony Nolan will be on hand to help attendees sign up to the stem cell register, which links people requiring transplants with potential donors. Bibi was diagnosed with a nervous system lymphoma, a rare form of cancer, in 2021 and treated at London’s Royal Marsden Hospital.

Enhancements in medical treatments, such as stem cell transplants, have given him a second chance at life, said Bibi. The London-born DJ added that he would urge people to sign up to the register to help people needing stem cell transplants find a suitable match. Staff and volunteers from Anthony Nolan will encourage music fans and partygoers aged 16-30, particularly men and those from ethnic minorities to sign up to the stem cell community. Stem cell treatments from younger donors are more effective.

Anthony Nolan works to ensure anyone who requires a stem cell transplant has access to a donor. The charity described registering for the service as a small yet significant act of kindness, which could provide a lifesaving solution. Music fans and partygoers looking to find out more about Anthony Nolan and its offering can visit the charity’s website. Jamaal Johnson, Mixmag’s digital intern, is the writer of this piece
