The Weeknd appears to tease his new era

The Weeknd’s social media posts are fueling speculation that a new era in his career is imminent. Abel Tesfaye had been hinting about his return since January, teasing his upcoming sixth album, which he said would be the final part of an ‘After Hours’/’Dawn FM’ trilogy. He posted the album covers of After Hours and Dawn FM from 2020 and 2022, respectively, followed by a photo with a question mark, with the caption “3.” In 2022, he tweeted, “I wonder… did you know you’re experiencing a new trilogy?” after releasing ‘Dawn FM’, suggesting that a third album is being worked on to close out the era.

The Weeknd has described the album’s concept as a state of purgatory, a journey towards the “light at the end of a tunnel,” leading some fans to believe that the upcoming album might refer to the afterlife, with one fan on Reddit speculating that the album’s name might be ‘After Life.’ The album’s name was inferred from a track on Dawn FM track called ‘Every Angel Is Terrifying,’ which featured an advertisement promoting something called “After Life,” which is said to be “intense, graphic, sexy, euphoric, provocative, edgy, thought-provoking, technically and visually stunning.

The Weeknd’s social media posts have set off rumors and speculations in the past. This time, a short video posted on his social media accompanied by a photo of woods at night suggests that his new era is imminent. In April, The Weeknd pledged $2million (£1.6million) from his X.O. Humanitarian Fund to help feed families in Gaza amid the ongoing conflict. The donation, which will provide over 1,500 metric tons of fortified wheat flour, will be used to make roughly 18 million loaves of bread that can help feed more than 157,000 Palestinians for a month, according to the World Food Programme
