Donald Glover shares new single, sets date for “final” album

Actor and rapper Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, has announced the release date for his “final” album, ‘Bando Stone & The New World’ and unveiled its first single, ‘Lithonia.’ The album will act as the official soundtrack for Glover’s forthcoming film of the same name. Although the trailer for the film was revealed at the beginning of July, he is yet to announce the release date. The album is due to be released on July 19 and can be pre-saved now via RCA.

Glover released his latest album, ‘Atavista’, in May this year. The album, as per Glover, is the “complete” version of his 2020 record, ‘3.15.20,’ and features reworked tracks from this release and an additional track named ‘Little Foot Big Foot.’ The film ‘Bando Stone & The New World,’ for which the album acts as the official soundtrack, is currently in post-production, with Glover fulfilling both producing and writing roles for the film.

Forthcoming dates and venues have also been confirmed for his ‘New World’ tour, which is scheduled to take place later in 2021, with shows in the United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia. Glover called out the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards recently for having the same number of accolades as Sam Smith. Glover aired his grievances with the ceremony on social media, stating, “It doesn’t really make sense… I have more Grammys than Will Smith, which makes no sense, but I have the same amount of BET awards as Sam Smith. Does that make sense to you guys? Me and Sam Smith are neck and neck at the Black Entertainment Television Awards.”

Despite the conclusion of Childish Gambino, it is no secret that Glover will continue to make waves in the entertainment industry. Glover has a complex artistic portfolio, including collaborations with an array of well-known musicians and his television series ‘Atlanta,’ for which he has received both critical and commercial success. Glover will undoubtedly continue to evolve as an artist, succeeding in his future endeavours.
