An internal investigation has been launched by the Leicestershire Police after three officers have been implicated for potential misconduct over their contact with triple killer Valdo Calocane. The triple murder occurred on June 13, 2023, where Barnaby Webber and Grace O’Malley-Kumar, both 19, and 65-year-old Ian Coates were victims.
The incident was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) by the force after it emerged that the officers were investigating Calocane for reportedly assaulting two colleagues on May 5 at a warehouse in Kegworth. As per sources, two police constables and a sergeant have been informed that they are now under investigation by the IOPC.
Initially, the police had confirmed that nobody was seriously injured, and Calocane had been escorted off-site by security before police arrived. However, with new evidence, the incident is now under scrutiny.
The Leicestershire Police detailed that the incident was being investigated as two separate occasions, and both involved non-fatally injured workers. The investigation aims to provide transparency to the public and reinforce the trust that the public invests in the law enforcement agency
