During their performance at Glastonbury, electronic duo Disclosure surprised fans by bringing out Sam Smith to perform their 2013 collab track, ‘Latch.’ Wearing an all-black tracksuit and a beard, Smith appeared on stage and took over the vocals for the song. Ahead of the performance, Howard Laurence of the duo hinted that they would perform “a song that I feel like some of you might want to hear. Anyone know what that song might be? In addition to their performance with Smith, Disclosure also performed a rendition of Faithless’s ‘I Can’t Sleep.’ Following the song, Guy Lawrence took the mic and delivered a speech about UK dance music culture: “the UK has the best f***ing dance music culture in the world and we hope you liked that little rendition.” The duo played a number of other songs during their Glastonbury set, including ‘F for You,’ ‘When a Fire Starts to Burn,’ ‘Holding On,’ ‘Waterfall,’ and ‘Insomnia’ (Faithless cover).
Other performers at the festival included LCD Soundsystem, Dua Lipa, Fontaines D.C., and IDLES, who each delivered memorable sets on the opening night of the festival. Released in 2012, ‘Latch’ peaked at number 11 on the UK Singles Chart and number seven on the Billboard Hot 100 charts in August 2014, becoming a sleeper hit in the US.
