Coldplay recently played their fifth headlining performance at Glastonbury, where they paid tribute to Michael Eavis and Michael J. Fox. During their performance, the band performed a wide selection of their hit tracks and also debuted a new song with Little Simz. They also performed ‘My Universe’ which was a collaboration with the K-pop band BTS. Although BTS was not physically present, Martin gave them a shout-out, before projections of the band were displayed on the tip of the Pyramid Stage.
During their encore performance, Chris Martin and the band dedicated two songs to Glastonbury founder Michael Eavis, and legendary actor Michael J. Fox. Michael J. Fox joined the band on stage to play guitar on two songs, ‘Humankind’, which also featured all of Coldplay’s previous performers of the night, and ‘Fix You’ during which Martin referred to Fox’s famous role in Back to the Future by singing “Go, Johnny, go!” as Fox played the guitar.
With performances still to come from the likes of SZA, Shania Twain, Janelle Monae, and more, Coldplay’s Glastonbury performance was just one of many highlights of the festival. Other headlining successes include Dua Lipa, IDLES, Fontaines D.C, and SEVENTEEN.
