The Last Dinner Party have used their platform at Glastonbury to urge fans to use their vote wisely in the upcoming General Election set to take place on July 4. While performing on the Other Stage on June 29, lead singer Abigail Morris implored voters to “protect each other and just having some fucking empathy” and emphasized that change cannot rely on just removing the Tories from power. Morris also commended pressure group Bands Boycott Barclays for getting Barclays to withdraw their sponsorship of Download, Latitude and Isle of Wight Festivals after accusing the bank of having financial ties to companies supplying weapons to Israel.
The five-piece group concluded their set by playing their entire debut album, February’s “Prelude To Ecstasy”. Morris, dressed in a bloodstained white dress, was joined by guitarist Emily Roberts who played a gold model of St Vincent’s signature guitar. The showcase concluded with the airing of two unreleased songs, “Second Best” and “The Killer”, the former of which addresses leaving someone who treats you as second best.
In other Glastonbury news, Kasabian made an unexpected appearance on Woodsies stage on the same day.
