SEVENTEEN, the 13-member K-pop boyband that recently debuted at Glastonbury, surprised fans by performing covers of popular songs by Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, Calum Scott, and Adele at a restaurant in Bath, UK. The group was fresh off their historic Glastonbury debut, where they became the first K-pop act to perform at the festival. Woozi and Seungkwan took turns singing classic hits while accompanied by a live pianist. Numerous fans were caught off guard and expressed shock and amusement on social media.
During an interview with NME, Seungkwan shared that the Glastonbury debut was “such an honour, we’re super grateful. Some of the audience members might not know us that well, but we just hope that everyone would leave with the impression that these guys can really smash it on stage.” The review described the group’s performance as connecting with the audience through song and that “Language isn’t a barrier.” SEVENTEEN’s performance at Glastonbury was given a five-star rating.
The Glastonbury Festival features an eclectic line-up of headliners and other performers in all genres of music. Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA were among the headliners, while a wide variety of other artists, including LCD Soundsystem, PJ Harvey, Little Simz, Burna Boy, Idles, Anne-Marie, and Avril Lavigne, also took the stage.
