Aer Lingus pilots in Dublin, Cork, Knock and Shannon airports have planned a strike on Saturday due to an ongoing dispute over pay. This comes after pilots began a work-to-rule earlier this week on Wednesday. The strike action will last for eight hours and begins at 05:00 local time. As a result, nearly 400 flights have been cancelled by the airline.
The Irish Airline Pilots’ Association (Ialpa) had previously called for a 24% pay rise for its members. The union is still pressing for a resolution despite offering to accept less than an inflationary increase in the hopes they can resolve the dispute. Aer Lingus has stated there are “a number of options” for those affected.
The pilots’ picket line will be at the entrance of Dublin Airport. The airline has established a list of the affected flights and has promised to contact passengers directly by email or SMS message to offer them alternatives or a refund voucher.
Aer Lingus Regional services to and from Belfast and Great Britain, operated by Emerald Airlines, will not be impacted by the industrial relations action and will run as per schedule
