Ex-girlfriend and influencer Brooke Schofield accused the Australian singer-songwriter of being a “master manipulator” and lying about his mother’s death on TikTok. Schofield claimed that Kane had lied about his mother’s nationality and profession, alleging that she was actually from the Philippines and not a Hillsong pastor as he had claimed. She accused him of trying to delete an interview because commenters noticed he had lied about his mother’s death. Kane’s representative has clarified that the “mother figure” Kane referred to in the interview was not his biological mother but a significant figure in his teenage years who had passed away.
Clinton Kane admitted that he regrets the way the news of his mother’s death was communicated at the time. His representative has confirmed that Kane was estranged from his immediate family, which is why Kane felt the loss of his mother so deeply. However, the statement did not address any other allegations made by Schofield.
