During an interview with influencer Taylen Biggs, Camila Cabello recounted her encounter with country music star Taylor Swift around a decade ago at the MTV VMAs when she was still a member of Fifth Harmony. She revealed the valuable piece of advice Swift gave her about songwriting during a tough time. According to Cabello, meeting and speaking with Swift, who was a songwriting hero to her, was a big deal. She saw Swift and Lorde sitting together and couldn’t help but approach and tell them how much she admired them.
Cabello was struggling with songwriting at the time and felt stuck. She asked Swift about what she would do in such a situation, and the “Shake It Off” singer suggested that Cabello should keep writing through it. “When you feel those voices of self-doubt, just keep going,” Swift said. “You will find yourself on the other side of it.” Cabello was grateful for the advice and remembers it to this day.
Cabello and Swift’s friendship goes back a long way, with the former opening for the latter on her ‘Reputation’ stadium tour in 2018 and the pair performing together at the 2019 American Music Awards. Cabello has always been a fan of Swift, as she confessed to Billboard in the past.
Swift is currently touring Europe on her ‘Eras’ tour , while Cabello is set to release her fourth solo album, ‘C, XOXO’, on June 28. Cabello’s last album, ‘Familia’, came out in 2022, and she has said that the making of the album ‘saved her life.’ In a four-star review of ‘Familia’, NME praised the Cuban-Mexican American singer’s lyricism and described the album as “pin-sharp satire and ’emo’ anguish galore.
