Irish band Fontaines D.C. returned to Later…with Jools Holland to perform two new tracks, ‘Favourite’ and ‘Starburster’. The band is preparing to release their fourth studio album, Romance, via XL Recordings on August 23. ‘Starburster’, the first single from the album, is described as a pensive art-rock beast that combines electronica and hip-hop, while ‘Favourite’ is a more melancholy affair that one band member said is a “continuous cycle from euphoria to sadness.” Romance was produced by James Ford, who has worked with Arctic Monkeys, Foals, and Depeche Mode among others.

‘The Starburster’ marks the band’s recent high profile appearances including headlining the Park Stage at Glastonbury and returning to Reading & Leeds’ main stage. Fontaines D.C has also found their latest tracks playing in the band’s recent European festival setlists, including the album title track ‘Romance’. The band has announced intimate album launch shows in Kingston, Liverpool and Newcastle.

Discussing the album, bassist Conor Deegan III stated, “We’ve always had this sense of idealism and romance. Each album gets further away from observing that through the lens of Ireland, as directly as ‘Dogrel’.
