An investigation has been launched after the window and door of Stella Creasy’s office in Walthamstow, north-east London, were smashed. Ms. Creasy, a Labour parliamentary candidate, posted images of the damage on social media and stated that the vandalizing was an “anti-democratic attack.” The police described the damage as “entirely unacceptable” and announced that an “urgent” investigation was underway.
The Metropolitan Police said that the office was targeted between 03:10 and 03:30 BST. Officers are following up “active lines of inquiry,” including looking into CCTV footage. Detective Superintendent Dion Brown appealed for witnesses to contact the police.
Ms Creasy, who won the Walthamstow seat in the last four general elections, also called for the “strongest penalties” for those involved in the vandalism. Addressing those responsible for the damage in a social media post, she said: “You don’t intimidate me, and you don’t belong in the political process. Same as those circulating malicious and false leaflets. Police already on this to find you – will press for the strongest penalties…and I know Walthamstow won’t be cowed or influenced by your violence either.”
The Labour party candidate’s statement on social media demonstrates her determination to not be deterred. She took a strong stance against any anti-democratic actions, and her social media posts made it clear that vandalism would not be tolerated. Ms. Creasy’s dedication to her constituents is unwavering, despite the violent attack on her office. The investigation into the incident is ongoing
