Tom Morello, guitarist of the iconic Rage Against the Machine band, has spoken out about the special purity he finds in working on his upcoming solo album. In an interview with NME, Morello reflected on being a solo artist versus being part of a band. He expressed that being in a band creates an unparalleled chemistry, which enables them to create together something that none of them could have created alone. However, Morello adds that working as a solo artist provides him with purity in his music, allowing him to create something that no one else would be able to.

His previous solo album, The Atlas Underground, was released in 2018, along with follow-ups The Atlas Underground Fire and The Atlas Underground Flood, both released in 2021, which featured performances from artists like Bruce Springsteen, Bring Me the Horizon, IDLES, and Steve Aoki, among others.
Morello’s first single, “Soldier In The Army Of Love,” from the upcoming album features his son Roman Morello, who he calls a budding guitarist, working with him on the music. The song embodies the redemptive power of rock and roll, with Morello’s signature huge riffs from multiple generations of musicians along with a shredding guitar solo where listeners will have to guess who played it. “Soldier In The Army Of Love” is set to release on June 28
