Several Reform UK candidates have made offensive comments online about women in the past, according to BBC investigations. The revelations include disparaging comments against the murdered MP Jo Cox, former Prime Minister Theresa May, and a black reality TV contestant. These remarks were posted between 2011 and 2023. All the candidates involved have been approached by the BBC for comments. Reform UK has also been approached by the BBC about the situation.
One of the candidates whose comments were uncovered by BBC was Simon Moorehead, who wrote: “[Jo] Cox was a dreadful woman, with bad ideas”. He then added “No-one wanted her dead though”. Another candidate, Mark Cole deleted his Facebook comment after it was revealed that he wrote, “Accidentally switched on to X-Factory. The only thing worth watching is the black bint… whoever she is”.
