Music label Transgressive Records has teased a new project related to the late artist SOPHIE. The label has released a video with synchronised timings for cities worldwide, including London and New York. No further details have been provided, but new social media accounts referencing SOPHIE’s former online handle @MSMSMSM_FOREVER have been created. The project will be revealed on 24 June at 6.30pm BST.
SOPHIE passed away in Athens in January 2021. As a DJ, producer and hyper-pop trailblazer, the artist influenced many in the music industry. Charli XCX’s album Brat includes a song titled “So I” written in memory of SOPHIE. St. Vincent’s new album includes a song inspired by the fallen artist called “Sweetest Fruit”. Annie Clark shared that she was moved to write the song, considering that SOPHIE died while trying to get a better view of the moon.
