During a recent interview with NME’s “Does Rock N’ Roll Kill Braincells” series, Rivers Cuomo reflected on his work with Taylor Swift for a 2009 commercial and her admiration for him. The advert was for the video game Band Hero and featured Cuomo, Swift, Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy, and Travis Barker from Blink-182 recreating Tom Cruise’s iconic dance scene from 1983’s Risky Business before performing Swift’s 2008 hit Love Story.

Cuomo expressed his honour at being able to recreate the famous scene with a handful of other huge stars as the original movie and scene were iconic and influential for his generation. He continued by stating that Taylor Swift was gracious and a natural-born leader, with whom everyone fell in love when she entered the room to start talking with them.

Swift expressed her own excitement and admiration for her co-stars in a behind-the-scenes video interview during the commercial’s creation. She stated that she was “freaking out” because Travis Barker, Pete Wentz, and Rivers from Weezer, who were some of her musical heroes, were playing along to her song and rocking out.

When asked if he had ever discussed collaborating with Swift after she hailed him as one of her musical heroes, Cuomo replied: “No, we’ve never talked about that. That never occurred to me. If she ever wants to make a rock album, I’d love to help out! I have a feeling that I would get the call from Miley Cyrus first though! [Laughs] That would be very cool.”

Weezer recently celebrated the 30th anniversary of “The Blue Album” and shared original home demos. They are also set to embark on their upcoming “Voyage To The Blue Planet” North American tour later this year where they will play the record in full at the shows and feature rarities and special guests. They will be supported by The Flaming Lips and Dinosaur Jr
