Jay Slater, a 19-year-old from Lancashire, has been reported missing in Tenerife after attending the New Rave Generation Festival over the weekend of June 14-16. Slater was on holiday with friends, and the festival’s organisers are currently assisting local authorities with the search. NRG took place across several venues in south Tenerife, including the Xanadu Resort, Hard Rock Tenerife, and Papagayo Beach Club.
The last known video of Slater shows him dancing on Sunday night at Papagayo’s, before moving on to a “very secluded location” to stay with people he met at the festival. His friends last heard from him when he called them on Monday morning, lost and trying to walk back to his accommodation alone with an injured leg, no water, and no mobile phone battery. The area where his phone last pinged has been searched by mountain rescue teams with helicopters, drones, and sniffer dogs. Investigators are searching for clues both at the location where Slater was last seen and in nearby piles of rubbish.
The New Rave Generation festival issued a statement to Mixmag, expressing their concern for Slater and support for his family. Local authorities can be contacted with any information that may be helpful on either 062 or 112.
Jay Slater’s friends and family launched a Go Fund Me page for their expenses in Tenerife to find Slater. They have raised over 10,000 euros. They are also appealing for anyone who might be in Tenerife or know others who might be to share on social media and see if any sightings of Slater can be confirmed
