Ghost have shared a new track, titled ‘The Future Is A Foreign Land’. The song comes from their new narrative-concert hybrid film, RITE HERE RITE NOW, and was revealed via the band’s social media platforms. The film clip tells us that the track was written by fictional character Papa Nihil in 1969 but was never released until now.
The song is available to listen to below and offers the same dark, haunting vibe that fans have come to expect from Ghost. The band, known for their theatrical performances and elaborate costumes, have been a cult favourite in the metal scene since they formed in 2006.
In an interview with NME, Ghost’s creator Tobias Forge talked about the film and the themes explored in ‘The Future Is A Foreign Land’: “The message is that there’s a great lesson lost if you look at what is going on in the world now and what took us here… if you’re lucky enough to experience this film in the cinema, you’re pretty well off. You’re one of the lucky ones and you should enjoy life, embrace it and do everything in your power to make life better for you and everyone you know.”
Ghost’s latest film offering seems to be another classic addition to their oeuvre, with NME giving it a four-star rating: “If you’re a casual fan, RITE HERE RITE NOW makes for a fun, enjoyable experience that should tide you over until their next album or tour. But if you’re a die-hard, this is essential viewing – not just for its exhilarating live moments, but for the next part of the gripping Ghost saga.”
