Tomorrowland, Belgium’s famous music festival, has opened up DJ slots for artists under the age of 18 as part of its Tomorrowland Academy program. Despite being a highly competitive event filled with established musical acts and DJs, students will get a chance to showcase their skills in Boom, Antwerp. Though only a handful from within the 9-17 year age bracket will be chosen to participate, they will still have the same opportunity to perform at the flagship festival that occurs over two weekends.
In a statement made on June 19 through Instagram, the festival said that Tomorrowland and the Academy aim to inspire young people to cultivate and enhance their skills. The festival added music aspirants would have a stage where they could showcase their collection of creative compositions despite their age, hoping to build their confidence and skill level.
Music has always been an excellent medium for young people to express themselves and show their creativity. Platforms such as Tomorrowland Academy give more and younger music aspirants an opportunity to showcase their abilities. Perhaps this young DJ initiative will inspire young musicians worldwide.
