Billy Corgan, the frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins, has shared a recent setlist that contradicts his earlier comments about not wanting to play the band’s biggest hits. Corgan had previously stated in an interview with Kerrang! that he doesn’t care if a song is a classic, if he doesn’t want to play it, he won’t. The statement led to various reports of the band not playing hits or fan favourites. However, the setlist from a recent Glasgow gig included most of the band’s well-known tracks such as ‘1979,’ ‘Disarm’ and ‘Cherub Rock.’

Corgan jokingly addressed these reports of not playing hits on his Instagram. He also thanked the audience in Glasgow for a spectacular night and promised to show more of Smashing Pumpkins not playing hits as the tour continues. Following this, the band played in Europe for an extensive run of dates.

At their opening show in Birmingham, they played a similarly hit-heavy set list, including a cover of U2’s ‘Zoo Station.’ In other news related to Corgan, recently, he praised Taylor Swift and defended the length of her latest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’ Corgan expressed his confusion about people’s complaining for long albums, as he faced a similar issue with Smashing Pumpkins’ latest LP, ‘ATUM’ that consists of 33 songs released in three parts.

Corgan has also revealed that he would star in a new unscripted series called ‘Adventures In Carnyland,’ which would focus on his involvement in wrestling as he serves as the President of the National Wrestling Alliance since 2017. The trailer for the show released a month ago. Atum received a four-star review, with Damian Jones writing it is an ambitious body of work, and pleasing for Pumpkins’ fans.

Overall, Smashing Pumpkins continue to play their hit-heavy concerts, proving earlier comments of not playing classic tracks wrong. Corgan himself continues to embrace other forms of entertainment such as wrestling with his upcoming series, Adventures in Carnyland
