Indie-pop band Pale Waves have announced their upcoming album ‘Smitten’, along with its lead single ‘Perfume’. The Manchester-based band thrilled fans by premiering the song, with a dreamy, lush sound on BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record show on June 12. The album is the band’s fourth and will be released on 20th September by Dirty Hit. Fans can pre-order or save the album via the band’s website.
‘Smitten’ is the result of two years of writing between the UK and US and is said to showcase the band’s Northern roots. “When I fall in love, I fall deep, and it’s interesting to me that you can feel so fascinated and smitten with someone and then they can become a total stranger. So I feel like ‘Smitten’ really summarised perfectly what I felt for others at a certain point.” lead singer Heather Baron-Gracie explained. The album is slated to be more jangly indie-pop influenced by Pale Waves’ hometown of Manchester, deviating from the pop-punk sound of its predecessors.
Pale Waves’ ‘Smitten’ will include 12 tracks: ‘Glasgow’, ‘Not a Love Song’, ‘Gravity’, ‘Thinking About You’, ‘Perfume’, ‘Last Train Home’, ‘Kiss Me Again’, ‘Miss America’, ‘Hate to Hurt You’, ‘Seeing Stars’, ‘Imagination’, and ‘Slow’. The band is currently set to perform alongside PVRIS on a tour in the US starting this month. Then they will return to the UK to perform in various festivals such as Y Not, Kendal Calling, and Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival.
Overall, Pale Waves’ upcoming album is highly anticipated by fans due to their exceptional synth-driven ’80s-inspired work. The band has received many positive reviews and reached nearly 1 million views on their debut album on YouTube. This new album promises to be an adventure for fans to explore and Pale Waves members to live in for a moment
