The Boys, Amazon Prime Video’s superhero series adapted from the comic books written by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, returns for its fourth season this week. The show follows a team of vigilantes who fight against superpowered enemies who abuse their powers. The first season premiered in 2019, with season two arriving a year later and season three hitting streaming in 2022. The fourth season was confirmed that same year, and Prime Video has already confirmed a fifth season.
In the trailer for season four released last month, the group’s leader Billy Butcher reveals that he’s running out of time to live due to a weakened heart as he rallies the gang for an assault on Homelander and the supes community. The trailer shows that the fourth season promises to be full of action and drama. It is unclear whether the cast of the show’s spinoff series, Gen V, will make appearances in the upcoming season, after several key characters from The Boys appeared in the debut season of Gen V.
Set in the same universe, Gen V is about to begin production on its second season. The show’s producers recently issued a statement that they will not be recasting the role of Andre Anderson after the untimely death of actor Chance Perdomo in March this year.
The first three episodes of The Boys season four arrive to stream around the world on Amazon Prime Video on June 13. There will be a total of eight new episodes, in line with the first three seasons. This means the final episode will premiere on July 18. Fans will be delighted to know that season five has already been confirmed, and while this season may feel like the set up for an eventual endgame scenario, the pacing never slows down, making it another urgent edition of TV’s best superhero show
