Swedish producer HNNY has announced the release of his first album in nearly a decade. The album, titled ‘Light Shines Through’, is set to release on July 5 and marks HNNY’s return to the LP format since his debut album ‘Sunday’ in 2011. The album reflects a pivotal period in the artist’s life, following the birth of his two daughters and explores spirituality on an abstract level. The project’s lead single, ‘I’ll Come Your Way’, has also been released alongside the announcement.
HNNY’s latest single is a breakbeat-driven track that features his trademark use of vocal samples. Talking on the release, HNNY said that “I wanted to create something more electronic than what I’ve done in recent years, and on a more abstract level, to make a record where I explored something kind of spiritual. Making music about that which cannot be touched.” HNNY had previously released a number of singles, remixes and EPs in the years following his debut album ‘Sunday.’
HNNY’s last album was independently released 9 years ago, and the producer is ecstatic about the album’s upcoming release. The album reflects the artist’s optimistic outlook and feeling of perspective following the birth of his two daughters. The album is the result of 3 month’s worth of work, and HNNY said that he found it challenging but rewarding to undertake larger projects such as an album.
The lead single can be heard on SoundCloud and is an ambient and blissful track. The album promises to be a delight for all fans of electronic music, much like HNNY’s debut album. Jamaal Johnson called it an exploration of spirituality and is eagerly waiting for its release.
