The 1975’s Matty Healy and model Gabbriette Bechtel seemingly confirm engagement at Charli XCX show

The lead singer of The 1975, Matty Healy, has sparked rumors of his engagement to girlfriend Gabbriette Bechtel. Healey and Bechtel reportedly attended a concert by Charli XCX together in New York City, where Bechtel shared a photo of her hand donning a large black ring on her ring finger on Instagram stories captioned, ‘MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT.’ She also shared a mirror selfie holding the ring, which Healy later reposted, fueling speculation of an engagement. The couple has been dating since September 2023.

Bechtel, a model who has worked with Marc Jacobs, Dolce and Gabbana, and Savage X Fenty, among others, has also fronted the punk rock band Nasty Cherry. She and Charli XCX have been friends since 2016, and Bechtel was chosen by the singer to lead the band. The band’s rise to fame was documented in the reality series, I’m With The Band: Nasty Cherry.

This news comes shortly after rumors surfaced about Healy’s past relationship with Taylor Swift following the release of her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department. Though unconfirmed, it is believed that Healy is the subject of several songs on the album, including its title track and ‘The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived’. Swift also mentioned the Scottish indie band The Blue Nile on ‘Guilty As Sin?’ which appeared to be another nod to Healy. It is speculated that the two were involved from April to June 2023, just after her split from Joe Alwyn.

It is yet to be confirmed whether the news of Healy and Bechtel’s engagement is true or a prank. The 1975’s drummer, George Daniel, meanwhile, is engaged to Charli XCX. In unrelated news, Healy recently opened up again about his thoughts on Swift’s new album, saying he was “blindsided” by how much of the project was seemingly inspired by their relationship, particularly because they were “never serious”
