Actress Courteney Cox has taken part in the recent viral trend where social media users ask their parents to recreate their dance moves from the 1980s over Bronski Beat’s ‘Smalltown Boy’. In a clip shared on her Instagram account, Cox can be seen wearing a blue jacket, waving her arms in the air. She then takes off the jacket to reveal a Bruce Springsteen t-shirt and proceeds to recreate her iconic dance from his ‘Dancing In The Dark’ music video. The clip later cuts to clips from the music video itself.
Cox, who was relatively unknown at the time, was cast as a fan for the 1984 music video. In the original video, Bruce Springsteen and his band were performing the track onstage before he picked her out from the crowd to dance with him. The video helped Cox establish herself as an actress, and she went on to star in various TV series and films such as ‘Friends’, ‘Scream’, and ‘Ace Ventura: Pet Detective’.
The ‘Dancing In The Dark’ dance recreations have garnered support from some of Cox’s Hollywood friends. For example, Jennifer Aniston, her co-star from ‘Friends’, reacted with a series of emojis, actress Julianne Moore threw in clap reactions, Jennifer Garner commented “You win!” followed by five stars, while model Lily Aldridge commented that Cox was an ‘icon’.
Bruce Springsteen, meanwhile, has had to postpone his shows in Prague and Milan due to ‘vocal issues’. However, he is set to resume his tour in Madrid tomorrow and previously rescheduled his 2023 US tour dates due to his ongoing battle with peptic ulcer disease
