A woman in her 60s has died in a house fire in Nottingham, leaving residents in shock. Fire personnel were summoned to Ashworth Close, Bakersfield, on the evening of Friday, December 3rd, and discovered the woman deceased. Despite efforts to rescue her, the woman passed away on the scene. Naeem Ahmed, her neighbour, told the BBC he too had attempted to rescue her.
Mr Ahmed, a taxi driver, stated he and another neighbour were able to enter the woman’s house through an opened back door. The victim has not yet been identified. After being taken to the hospital in the daytime, she was brought home. Mr Ahmed, speaking to reporters, added he was upset to learn of the woman’s death, as she had been a nice and pleasant individual.
Muhammad Qasir Naveed, another resident of Ashfield Close, remarked to Nottinghamshire Live: “I think we should always check on our neighbours. We look after each other.” Fire and police investigations confirmed there wasn’t any suspicion. Group Manager Jonathan Holford stated, “We would like to pass our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and everyone affected by this sad incident.” He pledged to provide reassurance to local residents, saying they would be offering free smoke alarm fittings.
Flowers were left on the doorstep of the woman’s house in memory of the tragic loss. If you have news ideas, kindly send them to eastmidsnews@bbc.co.uk, or via WhatsApp at 0808 100 2210. BBC Nottingham is available on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
