Thousands turn out for Northampton Saints' Premiership title parade

Northampton Saints’ victory parade drew thousands of fans on Sunday. The Premiership title win was secured by the club during a game against Bath at Twickenham on Saturday. The celebratory open-top bus parade started at Cinch Stadium and made its way through the town centre before finishing at the Guildhall.

Fans, who arrived early to secure the best spots, described the club’s first Premiership win in 10 years as “emotional” and “amazing”. Many had been waiting at the barriers for hours to catch a glimpse of the team, with some even bringing chairs to ensure they had a good view.

As the parade approached the Guildhall, fans cheered and chanted, and music from local bands added to the festive atmosphere. The players stepped out on stage to lift the Premiership trophy and give interviews, an emotional moment for many, including several who will be leaving the team.

Flanker Lewis Ludlam, who is heading to France next season, called it “a fairytale” and lock Alex Moon, who is also moving to France, said it was “everything I could have hoped it could be”. After mingling with the crowds and signing autographs, the players left on the bus, but the chants and celebrations continued among the fans.

Council workers cleared up after the event, and fans must now wait until September for Premiership rugby to start again. Interested parties can catch up on the parade through local news sites or listen to BBC Radio Northampton’s coverage on BBC Sounds
