Denzel Curry has announced the release of his upcoming project ‘King of The Mischievous South Vol. 2’. The project will serve as a follow-up to 2012’s ‘King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 1 Underground Tape 1996’, which set the tone for the early stages of Curry’s career. The sequel will have 15 tracks including his latest single ‘Hot One’, featuring A$AP Ferg and TiaCorine. The album will feature star-studded collaborations with artists like A$AP Rocky, 2 Chainz, Ty Dolla $ign and many more.
Curry’s latest project is heavily influenced by the rap scenes from Houston, Memphis, and lastly, his home state, Florida. ‘King of The Mischievous South Vol. 2’ is not only created to pay homage to the American South but also to show the musical heritage of the region. In one of his 2022 interviews with NME, Curry talked about the influence of South Florida on modern rap music. He expressed his opinion by saying, “Everybody copies us now.” He mentioned that Key Glock stated how everything in the game is just copying what’s going down south.
Curry’s 2012 album ‘MELT MY EYEZ SEE YOUR FUTURE’ gained him critical acclaim and a 5-star rating from NME. Curry is known to revamp his sound with each new project, and he consistently redefines his status as the Renaissance man of Southern hip-hop. Kyann-Sian Williams, writer for NME, said “For the fifth time – and in a different way than we might have expected – Denzel Curry has provided a priceless sense of self-discovery as he explores his countless facets.”
