Nadine Shah explains decision not to play Glastonbury over low fee: “Sorry to break it to you but music is my job”

Mercury prize-nominated singer and songwriter Nadine Shah has explained her decision not to perform at Glastonbury in 2024 due to financial reasons. Shah announced on her official Twitter account that she had declined an offer due to low pay and a lack of a televised stage, writing: “It’s too expensive a hit for me to take otherwise”. While Glastonbury is renowned for being one of the world’s most recognisable festivals, it is also known for paying artists less than other major events because the organisers make large charitable donations.
