Jamie xx shares details of long-awaited second album ‘In Waves’

After a nine-year wait, Jamie xx has announced that his second album, ‘In Waves,’ will be released on Young on September 20th. The release will feature collaborations with Robyn, The Avalanches, Kelsey Lu, John Glacier, Panda Bear, Oona Doherty, and Jamie’s The xx bandmates Romy and Oliver Sim. Jamie has already teased the album with the release of the single ‘Treat Each Other Right.’ The single will join the previously released ‘Baddy On The Floor,’ which he created in collaboration with Honey Dijon.

The album is scheduled for release in September and will comprise of 12 tracks. Jamie has described the album as being introspective, joyful, and fun. He stated, “I wanted to make something fun, joyful, and introspective all at once. The best moments on a dance floor are usually that for me.” The deluxe LP version will feature bonus tracks including ‘It’s So Good,’ ‘KILL DEM,’ and ‘LET’S DO IT AGAIN’ and two exclusive tracks, ‘Do Something,’ and ‘F U,’ featuring Erykah Badu.

Jamie xx recently played for ten consecutive nights at Venue MOT, the London residency that he named “The Floor.” The residency called in major artists such as Charli XCX, MJ Cole, Daphni, Nick Léon, and Jockstrap. Moreover, Jamie shared snippets of the latest release while performing at the event.

In an earlier statement, Jamie commented on the significance of these past years, saying, “Ups and downs, growing up, figuring stuff out, and then forgetting it all many times over. Life-changing events and world-changing events. These waves that we have all experienced together and alone.”.
