Singer Halsey has shared her new single ‘The End’ while reflecting on experiences with her health. The artist shared a collection of photographs and videos on Instagram presenting various points throughout her treatment with added captions explaining her journey. The post also highlighted that the charities Lupus Research Alliance and Leukemia & Lymphoma Society were tagged, with the proceeds going to support these organisations. The song itself features a minimalistic acoustic guitar ballad that explores Halsey’s recent health struggles and a new romance which they explain has ultimately helped them recover.
This release follows promotional activities via a cryptic, vintage-themed website under the name ‘For My Last Trick’. The website features a range of items such as stickers with wording such as ‘Master Mystifier’, ‘You Won’t Find Me Here’, ‘Southern Belle’, and more. Fans online have speculated that this content might be teasing the album’s various song titles. When selecting particular items on the website, users are taken to other areas of the site such as email sign-up links or vintage letters.
Back in September 2020, Halsey started working on a new record under her new label Columbia Records, highlighting that she was splitting herself in two so she could produce new music while also sharing her earlier wounds with fans. Also earlier this year, the singer posted snippets of her time in the studio with fellow musician and producer, Alex G, further hinting at new material to come.
After experiencing serious health issues, Halsey explained that the current song is the first to document their journey, with more story-sharing to come in the upcoming album. Halsey concluded the post which they shared on Instagram with a caption which reads: ‘it begins with The End. out now”.
Halsey’s fans and supporters have shared messages of encouragement and congratulations to the artist for sharing their experience and producing new material. It is important that people continue to share their stories when they feel comfortable doing so and as noted by Halsey, the charities Lupus Research Alliance and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society are tagged to highlight the importance of supporting others who have had similar experiences.
