Nick Carter hits back at “outrageous” sexual assault claims

Singer Nick Carter has denied allegations of sexual assault made against him in a new documentary called Fallen Idols: Nick and Aaron Carter. The Backstreet Boys singer was accused of sexually assaulting three women – Shannon Ruth, Melissa Schuman, and Ashley Repp – in the early 2000s. Nick declined to participate in the docuseries. Instead, his legal team has dismissed the women’s complaints as “spreading falsehoods.”

Nick’s attorney previously responded to the accusations, calling them “legally meritless” and “entirely untrue.” Ruth filed a civil lawsuit against Carter in 2022, claiming that the singer raped her in 2001 when she was 17 after a Backstreet Boys concert in Tacoma, Washington. Schuman, a former member of Dream, also accused Nick of assault and filed a report in 2017. Nick countered by suing both Ruth and Schuman for defamation.

A third accuser, identified only as A.R., has also sued Carter in 2023, claiming that Nick raped her when she was 15. The lawsuit was filed in Las Vegas and said that the incidents happened multiple times on a yacht, and once on the back of a tour bus in 2003 when Carter was 23.

Nick’s legal team has accused the women of spreading “outrageous claims” that led the team to sue a “gang of conspirators.” The cases are working their way through the legal system, and the team has every belief that they will prevail and hold the women accountable for their false accusations.
