Blur’s Alex James is attempting to make a giant Frazzle for The Big Feastival

Alex James, bassist for Blur and established cheesemaker, has revealed his plans to create a giant version of the classic British crisp, Frazzle, for the next Big Feastival in 2024. Speaking on the Chris Moyles Radio Show, James explained that the project had been in the works since last year and that he had discussed it with his Blur bandmates before their reunion tour dates. The musician aims to address the issue of disposable plates at large events by formulating an edible plate that can soak up the juices of festival food while being easily disposable.

James stated that his attempts thus far haven’t matched his original conception. He explained that he is still working on the project and declared his love of Frazzles and their crunchy texture. The musician has turned his sights to food and beverage and made quite a name for himself in the cheese world, launching various cheeses of his own, including Blue Monday, Figgy Pudding, and Farleigh Wallop. Named after his favourite song, the cheese is made in partnership with the Yorkshire-based artisan cheese producers Shepherds Purse. It was made available in over 200 Morrisons stores last summer.

The Big Feastival is held every year at Alex James’s farm in the Cotswolds and will be held between August 23 and 25 in 2024. This year’s event will feature Becky Hill, Ministry of Sound Classical, and Snow Patrol as headliners. Since reforming for a reunion and releasing their first album in eight years, Blur has recently come off a huge run of high-profile live shows, including two mammoth performances at Wembley Stadium last year and two headline performances at Coachella 2024. Blur have also announced details of their new feature-length documentary, To The End, which will follow their reunion and first album in eight years.
