The city of Liverpool is preparing for the arrival of Queen Anne on Monday 3rd June, where the naming ceremony for the vessel will take place. Here are some common questions answered for those attending the event.
Queen Anne arrives in Liverpool at 7am, with a fire tug escort on Monday 3 June with its evening departure set for 10:15pm on the same day. The event is free and open to all, therefore, tickets are not required. Whilst there will be a designated viewing area for guests travelling onboard Queen Anne, the general public can still enjoy the Naming Ceremony from the remainder of the Pier Head. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4pm and will continue for approximately one hour, with an element of street animation for those who wish to stay.
The event will be hosted by Emma and Matt Willis, with a variety of acts set to perform both during the naming ceremony and in the evening. Andrea Bocelli, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and local DJ Lauren Lo Sung will be just some of the attractions taking to the stage. During the evening celebrations, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra will be joined by legendary Liverpudlian DJ Craig Charles on stage.
The naming ceremony is planned to take place on the Pier Head at Liverpool Waterfront. Members of the public are unable to board Queen Anne, however, incredible views of the ship whilst it is berthed at the cruise terminal are accessible from Princes Parade and the Pier Head throughout the whole day. Attendees are urged to dress appropriately for the weather.
Security will be high and only drones licensed as part of the event will be allowed. Glass bottles are also prohibited, and there will a array of food and drink concessions available. There will be accessible viewing areas for those who need it but the event is standing only. The nearest train station is Liverpool James Street and parking is restricted around the Three Graces, so attendees are encouraged to use public transport wherever possible
