Acclaimed actors Glenn Close and Kerry Washington have been added to the cast of the upcoming Whodunit film “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery”. The highly anticipated third instalment in the Knives Out franchise is set to go into production next month, with Rian Johnson both writing and directing the film. Johnson has teased on social media that the film will feature its “most dangerous case yet”.
This news follows the recently announced casting of Andrew Scott, Josh O’Connor and Caile Spaeny alongside Daniel Craig who will reprise his role of Benoit Blanc. Johnson has previously stated that he will “keep making” franchise sequels as long as Craig is on board.
Close, who has several movies in post-production including “The Deliverance” and “Back in Action” which are set to be released on Netflix, is an Academy Award-nominated actress known for her performances in “The Wife” and “Fatal Attraction”. Seasoned actress Kerry Washington is set to star in the Tyler Perry-helmed Netflix feature “Six Triple Eight” and the series “Unprisoned”.
Whodunits have always been a favourite of Johnson’s, as he appreciates how malleable the genre is. The director is looking forward to exploring the tonal spectrum in Blanc movies, from Carr to Christie, which he finds one of the most thrilling aspects of creating these films. While plot details for Wake Up Dead Man have yet to be revealed, fans are eagerly awaiting the 2025 release of the film
