A woman who was fatally stabbed at Durley Chine Beach, Bournemouth, has been remembered by her loved ones. Amie Gray, a 34-year-old personal trainer, was one of two women attacked at the beach. The incident occurred on May 24th at around 11:45 pm BST. The second woman, aged 38, suffered serious injuries and is still in hospital.
Amie’s mum, Sharon Macklin described her daughter as, “amazing, funny, kind, and energetic” and said the family was devastated. The victim’s wife, Sian, said, “Words cannot describe the pain that we feel. Amie was the most loving wife and mother. I will miss you immensely my love. To the moon and back, forever and always.”
Mrs. Gray, the head coach at Dorset Futsal Club, dedicated an immense amount of time and effort to the team’s success. The women’s indoor football team is shocked and saddened by her passing and remember her as an invaluable member of their team. The club said she was “so committed to making the team thrive, giving them 1:1 advice, checking in with them individually, and her vision to enter the upcoming National Futsal Series and showcasing their amazing work and talent”.
A 20-year-old from Croydon, London, has been arrested in relation to this incident on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. The police have lifted the cordon along the promenade, but searches continue to be conducted. On Tuesday, search teams were seen lowering themselves down the cliff on ropes and hacking back undergrowth.
Residents, meanwhile, are still in shock and recalled the incident as terrifying. They recounted their fear and unease following the attack while some praised the police response for restoring confidence.
