Last week, Britpop icons Pulp reunited to play their first live show of the year at AFAS Live in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Before taking to the stage, the messages “You are about to see the 543rd concert by Pulp” was projected onto the closed curtains. Jarvis Cocker and co. opened the show with ‘I Spy’ before segueing into their 1995 hit ‘Disco 2000’. The band dedicated the fourth song of the night, ‘Something Changed’, to their late bassist Steve Mackey, who passed away last year at 56.
Pulp’s setlist for the night included a mix of their hits like ‘Mis-Shapes,’ ‘Sorted for E’s & Wizz,’ and ‘Common People,’ as well as album tracks ‘Pink Glove’ and ‘Weeds II (The Origin of the Species),’ with a full list of songs available at the end of this article. The encore included ‘Like A Friend,’ ‘Underwear,’ ‘Common People,’ ‘Joyriders,’ and ‘Glory Days.’ This show was the last of the band’s reunion tour, and drummer Nick Banks confirmed that more Pulp may come in 2024.
Although Pulp’s last scheduled show may have just wrapped up, fans can look forward to their summer European festival dates, including performances at Way Out West, Øya, Primavera Sound, and Flow Festival. During an interview with NME earlier this year, Jarvis Cocker confirmed that the band’s touring plans would extend into 2025.
Last November, Pulp debuted a new song called ‘Background Noise’ during a show in Mexico. It came after they performed an unreleased track titled ‘Hymn Of The North’ in Sheffield. However, during an interview with NME in October, Banks downplayed the chances of Pulp releasing new music anytime soon, stating that their reunion gigs were “more about getting the party back.”
