London’s The Cause will host a South Asian-focused club night on September 7, promoted by collective Dialled In. The bill will feature DJs including NAINA, MadStarBase, Heems and Haseeb Iqbal, along with lesser-known performers covering world music, electronic sounds and club hits. Dialled In intends to use Arts Council funding to showcase under-represented artists from the South Asian diaspora, with the aim of developing creative pathways for the community.

Dialled In has been active for several years, organising parties in Manchester and London that celebrate South Asian club and party culture. As well as working with established performers, the collective has spent time discovering up-and-coming musicians and supporting them to develop their skills and careers. The September 7 event will offer emerging talents an opportunity to network with more established figures in the South Asian music scene.

The Cause, located on Ashley Road in Tottenham Hale, has become an important destination for London’s club-goers since it was reopened in 2018. The venue offers a programme of gigs and club nights that span genres, but is committed to supporting underground culture. Dialled In’s focus on South Asian culture and performers is part of a growing demand for more diverse representation in the UK music industry.

In an interview with The Wire magazine, Dialled In’s founder DJ Ritu stated that the collective’s mission was to create “a community of South Asian musicians who are heard, affirmed and celebrated”. The September 7 event is an important step towards that goal, bringing together artists who might not normally have the opportunity to perform on a major London club stage
