Country music legend Dolly Parton has revealed that she will release a new album and accompanying docuseries about her family history. Produced by her cousin and touring band member Richie Owens, the album will be titled ‘Dolly Parton & Family: Smoky Mountain DNA – Family, Faith & Fables’, and is due for release on November 15. The full tracklist will be announced on June 21 when pre-orders open for vinyl and CD versions.

The album highlights the Parton family’s history, alongside that of her mother’s family, the Owens. It explores their journey from the United Kingdom in the 1600s to their present-day roots in the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. Several members of Dolly’s family, both immediate and extended, will perform on the album, alongside recordings of relatives who have since passed.

The wider theme of the release is the importance of family, shining a light on Parton’s family’s musical legacy. The accompanying docuseries, currently in production, will see the country icon debut interviews with members of the Parton and Owens families, alongside concert footage filmed at Knoxville’s Bijou Theater, where Dolly and family will perform songs from the new album. Details of the docuseries’s release date and streaming platform are yet to be announced.

Dolly’s previous album ‘Rockstar’, was released in 2020, featuring collaborations with artists from across pop and rock, including Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Miley Cyrus, and Kid Rock. More recently, she appeared on Beyoncé’s latest album ‘Cowboy Carter’, where she featured on the tracks ‘Dolly P’ and ‘Tyrant’
