The Black Keys have announced that they have cancelled their entire North American tour schedule, much to the dismay of fans. This announcement had caused speculation that the cancellation was due to low ticket sales, but the band being a two-piece rock duo of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney have since revealed that they have chosen to perform their International Players tour at smaller theatre venues. In their statement, they commented that this decision was taken following the successful run of shows in the UK and Europe that included iconic venues such as Brixton Academy and the Zenith in Paris.
Fans who had already purchased tickets for the tour dates will be fully refunded and will also be the first to have access to tickets for the revisited tour. The band apologised for making a surprise change to their tour schedule but stated that they are confident it will result in an equally enjoyable experience for both their fans and them and that they are excited to reveal their plans to everybody.
‘Ohio Players’, the band’s 12th album, includes collaborations with musicians such as Noel Gallagher and Beck. The album peaked at Number 26 on the US Billboard chart, and Number 13 in the UK. In a review of the album, NME gave it a three-star rating and commented that while it had impact and smoothness, it felt like it was about impact over depth and lacked the depth shown in previous works.
The Black Keys have given fans a glimmer of hope that the band will be returning to the stage soon and that they will be providing an even more special experience. Fans will be eagerly waiting for the announcement of new tour dates and will be ecstatic to see what the band has in store for them
