All shows featuring musician Kamaal Williams, also known as Henry Wu, have been cancelled due to allegations of sexual assault published by Resident Advisor on May 22nd. Williams was due to perform three sold-out headline nights at London’s Jazz Cafe in addition to other performances in Leeds, Manchester and Bristol later this month.
The allegations detail multiple accounts of sexual assault against Williams spanning over a decade. Three women were individually involved in incidents that occurred in 2010, 2021 and 2023. Despite not knowing each other, they provided similar accounts of sexual assault and coercive behavior.
Second-hand witnesses were interviewed, and text and email conversations from all three women were reviewed by Resident Advisor as part of their investigation. Additionally, a statement was filed by one of the women to the Metropolitan Police in 2020, and an email from the Met confirmed the date on which she reported the alleged sexual assault in 2020. A video statement was also given in 2021.
Representatives for Kamaal Williams deny the allegations. The accusations were deemed “very serious” and “untrue”.
