K-pop idol Juri has departed from South Korean girl group Rocket Punch after five years with Woollim Entertainment, the group’s agency has announced. Juri made her debut as a member of the K-pop group back in 2019. The agency stated that Juri’s management contract was terminated as she has a different contract period from other members of the group, being a foreign member.
Woollim Entertainment expressed appreciation to Juri and fans for their love and support of the group, confirming that Rocket Punch will continue as a five-member group without Juri. Meanwhile, K-pop girl group NewJeans has released their latest single ‘How Sweet’ from their new double single album, which features their previously released song ‘Bubble Gum’.
The release of ‘How Sweet’ comes amid an ongoing feud between ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin and HYBE over the ownership of the NewJeans label. In April, Min claimed that HYBE and Belift Lab were “undermining” the success of NewJeans by creating a copycat version of the quintet. In other news, RM of K-pop supergroup BTS has dropped his second solo album, ‘Right Place, Wrong Person’, with a music video for the lead single ‘LOST!’. The record also features the previously released song ‘Come Back to Me’.
Rocket Punch released their latest record, Bubble Up!, last August. Korean members Dahyun and Yeonhee, and Japanese member Juri joined the K-pop group through the Mnet reality show Produce 48 aimed to create a temporary girl group out of Japanese and South Korean members.
